Scorpio; great photos with your Tokina 400mm ATX AF! I also love the one of the Robin pulling the worm out of the ground! All are really nice!

Here's some of mine from this morning with the same lens; I'm really loving this Tokina!

First is a male Red Crossbill.
2nd Female Red Crossbill
last 2, male Cassin's Finch
CSA, thanks I am starting to really like my Tokina now too. It me some trial and error to get there. You have some really great shots there. I really love the colors on the last two. You really can not beat the Tokina if you can get a nice one for a good price.

They never showed any signs that they could hear the camera shutter. It wasn't until I took a step out from the trees that I was hiding behind that they spotted me.
Nice photos r0ckstarr, I really like the first one. That is a great capture. One the deer see you there are usually gone.

Lucky sighting - wild Mink

While on a hike several days ago, we spotted a small animal at the edge of ice-covered water, slinking along a few rocks - a mink in its natural habitat. Mink are not overly rare in the Ottawa valley region, but they are wary animals and tend to avoid humans. This guy poked its head out of the den to keep an eye on me.

Not a great photo, but I'm happy that I got anything. We returned a while later, hoping that our friend would be standing on the rock, full body exposed. No such luck!

Pentax DA* 300/4. 50% crop.

If you're interested, a short description of the mink may be found at:

Thanks so much! Yes, I was very lucky to get my Tokina right here on Marketplace in mint condition; for a nice price. I'm really enjoying it!

For an illusive animal like this is; I think it's a great photo; I love the area around him, accenting him.

So Interesting that a chance at a fox seems almost as rare for you up there in the boonies as it is for me here in Megalopolis. Unless you learn how to stalk 'em, I figure it's a "do the best you can when the opportunity presents" sort of thing.

Thanks. It was all pure luck and coincidental timing that I found them.

Thanks!

When I took one more step, he dove into the den.

I have a guy like that who lives down at our dog's swimming hole. With two photographers in the family, we've never got an image of him. You're doing good.

All taken with the DA*300mm.

And, just to see if you are paying attention, a Forster's Tern. Just missed the shot but those guys are so darn fast.
