I just had to post this. The fish you see in the egrets mount is half the fish. The other half is already going down his/her throat. A second later - all gone. K3 500 1.4TC with Better Beamer. I could sure have used a narrower spot focus for this shot - it was very hard for me to get a good focus. The grasses played havoc. But still I was astonished at the size of this guy/gal's breakfast snack.

I spent an hour out at a local pond trying to get a kingfisher that Tess got from a distance with her 18-250 this morning. He never showed up, but while carrying my stuff around and driving I got a couple of images. 680mm hand held is tough, even braced.

Rough Grouse K-3, A-400 and FA 1.7 TC

Yellow Bellied Sap Sucker DA*60-250 and HD DA 1.4 TC.

Two quick test shots with cheap Panagor 400 mm f5.6 & 2x Telemore 95II 7KMC. Both in original size (uncropped), wide open (f11 ?). Not that easy to focus with this combo.

Staked out the feeders at the bird reserve with the tamron cat. 350mm 06B. I started with the tripod and IR remote, lens prefocussed on the feeder but there were too many opprtunities elsewhere so hand held after a while. That's definitely easier with the 350mm compared to the 500mm f8, but even so there were a lot of rejects exercising the delete button ... Also the cheap IR remote wouldn't wake the K5 up once power saving kicked in.

The robin wasn't shy.

The bullfinch played peekaboo.

"Wha.. dropped it!"

"Just a mo mmm mmmm mmm"

"Sorted!"

"Yippee kay ay!" Head softened by motion blur even at 1/800th, these bluetits move fast.

Playing with a Kenco 1.4TC on my F300 4.5. Probally will spring for the Pentax HD 1.4TC.
