Osprey this morning. It was reserving it's prowess for grabbing dead branches off the trees for it's nest.

Had to take my Grandmother to get shoes at the Waterloo Outlets, and that means going through Montezuma NWR...

@RockvilleBob, some real love birds...

Some odd couples...

And an exit...

Is the Reserve right by the highway? I think I have driven pass there before going to the outlet mall.

Can you drive into the Reserve?

Yes, you drive through Montezuma on the Thruway.

The entrance to the Wildlife Drive is off of Rt. 20. If you get off at the Waterloo exit you make a left onto Rt 318 instead of a right to go to the outlets. You then make a left onto Rt 20 toward Auburn and the refuge entrance is about a mile on the left. There are Osprey that nest on the power lines along 20.

Yellow!

Our resident American Goldfinch crew has pretty much changed over from their winter plumage. We have 50-60 of these guys here at the feeders year around.

Blurry pic - I can't hold my 300mm lens too well anymore - usually have it on a tripod. But got this quick snap through the glass this afternoon. Amazing how fluorescent yellow they are this time of year.

I can relate--my right rotator cuff took a serious hit last year on a fishing excursion (Don't worry--the rod's ok ;~) Some days I can man-handle the 300: some days I can't.

Dave,
I can relate. Today I had the chromatic aberration, not the camera, hence only one of the male Osprey images made the cut. He also goes from perch to perch to perch stringing me out while I try to get within range of the A/400. A master of manipulation.

Thanks Dave!

This is the first time I even picked a camera up in over a year - I really have to force myself out of this slump somehow......

Glad the rod was OK!

Not this again. This thread is open to any 300mm+ lens. It doesn't matter what it is mounted on.
