Yes, sometimes it's better to be lucky...
Nice detail on the second one.

And I guess your used the HD TC ? (Exif shows 420mm)
Wow, thank you! Yes, hand held at the equivalent of 630mm. Maybe I should submit it to the PPG.

Here are couple taken with the DA* 300. I actually wanted the first shot to have the sunset behind it but things didn't line up properly.
Cool distance compression!

Beautiful shots! I can see I'll have to work harder at BIF.

These were taken from a car in my garden with a K-5/Sigma 500mm f4.5 EX DG/Kirk window mount. 500mm is a bit too much I think I will stick to 300mm for garden shots in future

Obviously, Gary, you will have to trade up to the D FA 150-450. That will allow you to take little birds and big ones with the same lens.

Would that work on my old K-5?

I'm quite happy with my Sigma's. I would like a mint FA600 f4 though.

I was bored this evening so I went out and took a couple of shots just as the sun was going down, K-5/Sigma 500mm f4.5 EX DG/Sigma EF-610 DG Super with Better Beamer

I'm pretty sure there's a Pentax law that states you can't take a landscape shot with a 300mm lens
It's the bird shots with a 15mm that are the real challenge ..... (live birds that is....roast chicken is easy enough)

The detail is great. You just need 2 camera bodies; 1 for the 300, 1 for the 500. Then, you're covered.

I followed him from tree to tree hoping to get a decent shot of him. Eventually, he got curious of his follower and stopped to get a better look.

Went to setup for our church overnight camp at a regional park and found this guy waiting for us under our truck when we returned.
