The Horsfield's Bronze Cuckoo. So far, this is the only Australasian migrant that is regularly recorded in Singapore. First spotted in 2012 around end of May. For this year, several birders manage to get it in few weeks ago. A lifer and I got it on this morning. Based on the data gathered thus far, one possibility is the cold snap that was experienced throughout most of eastern Australia in the first week of June (or end of May?). Many areas experienced subzero overnight temperatures and it is possible that the sudden onset of cold weather might have triggered eastern populations of the Horsfield’s Bronze Cuckoo to migrate further north than they usually do.

A question for y'all: with the exception of tripod mounts, is there really much difference in performance between the A*300/4 and its F*, FA*, and DA* counterparts? I know the last is a modern classic (and WR would be very handy in my part of the world) but since I'm drawn to legacy glass in other FL's, I might be inclined that way, especially if the older lenses work as well at infinity.

Yes. The A*300 is quite sharp but prone to aberrations.

I had an A*300/4 for a while. I liked the compactness but it (at least that copy) didn't measure up to the DA*300/4 (or any * lens) in terms of IQ.

Anybody who owns the F*300 will tell you that it's sooooo much better than the other Pentax 300's out there. Me included I mean, just look at it. The antique white color is awesome, plus this lens provides street Cred.

Ha, definitely no streets where I'd want to take this bad boy...

Thanks, gents, for your replies--no doubt I'd spend decades before I wrung the DA*300 dry, but there's always something alluring about lenses like the F* that are constructed out of Unobtainium.
