Thanks, lukulele! - In end it stays unclear. The most important thing for me is, although the possibly golden eagle - - isn't really sharp and clear I like that image very much.

The DFA150-450 combined with my DA TC1.4x on APS-C has incredible reach if you imagine that using an FF camera you need a 945mm lens to get the same field of view! And since it seems to be optically first class you can even crop and "get closer". This should yield to a lot more flexibility and opportunities than I have today. So I'm saving some money to buy it some day and I'm happy that I don't need to buy the 560 and participate in this Red Bull competition.
The DA560 is 3040g
and the 150-450 is 2325g with the hood and tripod mount

it's less than 2lb difference... so no need to consider a red bull compétition...
only a bigger hole in you bank account
110mm more reach is significant!

You would participate a red bull competition if you were using the 250-600 (12,8 lb)

yes you can !

Actually, some on this list would not consider the difference all that significant -- the 560mm offers 24% greater reach over the 450mm. Or put another way, the 450mm is 80% of the reach of the 560mm. For many, that's "in the ballpark". For the majority of 24"x36" prints you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

YMMV

Michael

but when coupled with an HD TC 1.4x then it would become 24% x 1.4 more reach... that is becoming really significant... and we know the hd TC and the 560 works very well together !

Truth be told I don't remember. I was quite a distance though, and I cropped off about 60% of the picture.

Sharing three types of Kingfishers. Both the White-throated and Stork-billed Kingfishers were local resident and commonly across the wetland. The Common Kingfisher only can be seen between Sept to Feb (winter migrating bird either from China or Taiwan). All shots were taken from K-S1 + Sigma 150-500mm HSM.

Great shot I think I might want something longer than 300mm though.

That bronze copper is really nice. I tried to catch some butterflies yesterday but they were faster than me.

Excellent series, I really like the first one. All that color.

Here is shot of a Cedar Waxing from yesterday. Taken with the K3 plus Bigma at 500mm.

Another good one. Smooth, intriguing, scary, and artistic.

A few things from this morning. The Kokanee spawn is in full force, lots of species attracted to the meal.

Not sure what this is.

River otter family portrait. There were at least two more.
