Here are some more shots taken with my K-5/Pentax FA*600mm f4 ED [IF]
The first 5 were taken from a car using a Kirk window mount

And these were taken using a tripod

Have been practising for Sunday night's full moon and eclipse...

K-3, DA* 300 + TC 1.4, ISO 200, 1/500, f/6.3, handheld resting on a gate. Some tone mapping, sharpened a bit, 100% crop just squeeeezed it into 1024x1024..

That little birdie is wonderful .....great shots!

A couple from my new Bigma 50-500.

Otis...he insisted I post this even though only his face is in good focus....he is so proud of his big nuts, and said his handsome face is all that really matters anyhow.....

Regards! Really nice stuff you guys posted on this page!

Thank you Steve!...but Otis asks, "Were they tasty?"

Dawg...Wonderful bear shot, I wouldn't even get that close to a damn squirrel, they bite too, but have much smaller teeth!

This little young Jay hasn't learned to be nervous and jittery yet, but in time she will...they all are...all except the ones the cats get.

Saturday today....time to relax...Otis started on Friday...Friday several years ago, and liked it so much he never stopped!

Regards! I can't contribute wonderful stuff like many of you guys here, but if you get a hankering for squirrels...I'm always there for you!

Derek I look forward on seeing some photos, especially the Elk because I don't think Alistair or I are to happy with ours.

Moon - Waxing Gibbous, 99% visible

Tried to set up for the eclipse, even though weather here is not supposed to be conducive for viewing. Perhaps the clouds will part!

Only got one shot through the clouds tonight, so never was able to tweak focus like I wanted. It's amazing how fast the moon moves through the viewfinder at 600mm.

SMC Pentax 135-600mm F6.7 & K-5IIs. Settings: 600mm, 1/125, ISO 80, F11. Mirror lockup with 3 second timer & IR remote. PP in CS6.

Crop, slightly downsized:

Very nice Gary.

Tamron 350mm has now been buffed and relubed, and has a large soft felt lined hood.

This pic from staking out the feeders at the bird reserve (where things are otherwise distinctly fallow, apart from being between seasons the dry summer has left the water levels in the lagoons low, prompting the birds to hang out away from the hides and spend more time feeding in the estuary). K5. Only a couple of keepers - going to take a while to get my eye in with this lens i think, but when I hit focus the results are really not bad.
