Supermoon weekend... da da daaaa with 31A adaptall

Yesterday I set up to catch the supermoon rising over the Vardre. This wee hill was the ancient site of Deganwy Castle, before it was slighted and then replaced by Conwy Castle by Edward I.

(SMC-A 50mm)

Unfortunately I had gravely underestimated the time I would have to wait from official moonrise. However the sunset was nice.

I was able to practice my panning.... ( and do I need practice )

Unfortunately I had also misguessed my position and had to leg it back to the prom with tripod and 31A.... Shooting the mon is quite tricksy, I was -4ev to get the moon exposed right. I was also bracketing. These are just a couple of initial crops. I want eventually to have an image with the Vardre dark but visible. Layers etc in Photoplus... or perhaps I can try a HDR ...but that's all new to me...

I am no fan of moon shots, but those are wonderful!

This little birdie was falling off to sleep around 5pm, so she sure won't make seeing the eclipse!

This one...might just make it!

Regards!

Derek I look forward on seeing some photos, especially the Elk because I don't think Alistair or I are to happy with ours.

There are really nice shots, Travis. Are all of them from a tripod?

Travis showed up and hopefully we managed to satisfy.

And the lunar eclipse last night. I blew the shot, amazing how far the moon moves in 2 seconds with 500mm. But I like this one.

Some more from last week:

Blue Jays are always around but hard to catch on camera.

Mockingbirds were kind of scarce this summer.

Scarlet Tanagers are infrequent visitors.

Also Grosbeaks (My expert says, "non-breeding female Rose-breasted Grosbeak."

Supermoon X posted with moon thread.

K10D + AFA 1.7x + M 400/5.6 wide open, ISO 400
Exposure Aperture priority, spot meter.

Latitude 49.745°
Longitude - 114.898°
Altitude 1154 m = 3845 ft.

As the evening wore on, I got more and more hot pixels with the old K10D. The last shot has little pin prick Christmas lights all over it. At this early time in the session, it was relatively clean. This is should be the full eclipse according to the camera clock. The K10D will not display the image on its LCD screen, it is so dim.

Cropped to 1671x1671 in LR 6.1.1.
Exposure + 2.79; Contrast - 25; Whites + 31; Blacks -10

Noise reduction Luminance 50; Detail 50; Contrast 0

My Supermoon and Superbloodmoon efforts from last night. Both DA*300mm plus 1.4x HD TC..... sadly the eclipse was far too high in the sky to capture any foreground interest, but at least this meant the view was clear.
