A few pictures for today. It was partly sunny but relatively warm. I didn't expect to see so many different kind of birds.

Red Tail Hawk

Dark Eye Junco

Northern Pintail

Barred Owl

The blue birds are really nice! The eastern ones will take a couple more months before they will show up.

I can't say I miss Pentax.
All camera systems have their good and bad points, for me the good points of Nikon outweigh the bad.

OMG! That "Only Joking" is all that kept Otis from going into a squirrel frenzy!

A 300+ club for Prime &/or Tele Zoom lenses ,or any combination with teleconverters etc which reaches 300MM or more may be of interest and would include Pentax * lenses as well as any 3rd party makes which are probably used by many Pentax owners, especially from the film camera era. CCPhoto

Took the K5, Rogue Safari and newly acquired Vivitar TX 400mm to the RSPB for some test pics. Winter is lingering, it was a dull grey day so the flash extender was just the job. "M" mode, shutter limited to 1/180th- too slow for fast moving tits! Tripod mounted, IR remote. I had to prefocus on the feeder and then trust to luck that some of the birds would be in more or less in the plane of focus with the swinging of the feeder and movement of the bird.

Couple of the better efforts....

The flash extender is a good piece of kit IMO. The Viv is a bit average.

After four unsuccessful attempts we finally tracked down the Harlequin Duck at a waterfront park today. It's a Western bird and doesn't show up here very often. Half the distance away and softer light would have been good, but it's still a great looking bird. The others are Long-tailed Duck, Red-necked Grebe and Greater Scaup (hard to tell from Lesser but I think that's right)
