A few days ago I acquired an A 400/5.6, I hope y'all don't mind me joining in on the fun!

Wilson's Snipe and Wilson's Plover, cross-posted from "Wildlife" (both with the DA 55-300mm). Does anyone have any more Wilson's birds to add (warbler, phalarope, petrel, bird of paradise...)?

Went to my closest local spot, less than a mile and a half from my house. Light was terrible and everything was way out of range. Oh well, better days are coming...

Only interesting birds were a pair if Ring-necked Ducks. Of course they were swimming away and around a corner as soon as I arrived.

Weather has been good for the last two days. So I took the opportunity to check out the local visitors.

Male American Widgeon

And the female taken on a separate day.

Finally got a close encounter with some snowy owls. I saw three of them in the same area yesterday.
This is one of them taken yesterday.

I visited the same area today and saw this one at dusk. I waited and it took off from the hydro pole. Unfortunately the wings got clipped in the picture.
Check out the extremely sharp talons.

This is the same bird in flight. It was taken at f1/800 so it was somewhat blurry even with a bit of sharpening.

Love the detail in the widgeons.

The snowy owls are beautiful birds, I think you did well to catch 'em. Have you thought about cloning out the tip of the hydro pole and the line?

cloning out the pole would be simple but the line would be tricky since it go under the wing. I may try it when I have a bit of time.

Sometimes lucky I managed to shoot 2 birds (focused) within a frame but this family shot has to be the luckiest to have 3 in 1.
Great job! Sometimes I feel like I'm still working to get just one in decent focus!

All are great shots! For just getting that 400, you certainly need no practice!

I really am enjoying everyone's images here!

Certainly not in the league of all your images, but I was pleased to catch this Bald Eagle, handheld with my Pentax 55-300 + a Tamron 1.4x TC.

I have far too many shots of red wing blackbirds (at least I think that's what the dot is) similar to yours above.

Your treatment makes the photo look like a cartoon! Great shot of the aircraft.
