The problem is not stopping motion, it's getting off a shot before they hop out of the FOV. They never seem to stay in one spot for more more than tenth of a second, if that.

First time I've looked at this thread, some seriously impressive shots Guys, Nice Work.

For what it's worth here's a couple from my M*300 wide open and hand-held on Saddleworth Moor.

A couple of Oystercatchers:

And a Meadow Pippit on a post:

My osprey shot from today. K5-IIs and a Sigma 300mm f2.8, First outing for the lens. Taken on Chamont Bay on the eastern shore of Lake Ontario. About 60 miles north of where boriscleto lives. We were only about 100 yards from the nest and they were not happy to see us there. They kept checking us out.

Walked around the backyard for a few minutes tonight.

The Robins must be pretty hungry...

There were a couple Ruby-crowned Kinglets flitting around too.

A* 600 + 1.4X-L and cropped. The background is crap, the focus isn't great and they were way up in the tree, but I don't get to see Great Horned Owlets very often.

mt Adams

we've been pretty heavy on birds (which I like), but today I did something different. I wanted to get some mountain photos before the snow was all gone. I drove east on US 12 through Mossyrock, Morton and up to Randal, WA
the forest service roads allowing you to get close to the mountains weren't open yet but the main highway was. The best I found was a partial view of Mt. Adams, but still fairly interesting with a 300mm glass...

the second photo features mt. st. Helens from the jackson highway north of Toledo, wa

Welcome stubyles, that Oystercatcher photo is pretty impressive for a fully manual lens. Yes, some of the pictures in this tread are true works of art.

I don't get to see the Indigo Bunting very often and have yet to get a good picture of one, but this guy landed in my Cedar Tree for less than a minute yesterday Morning.

As I go through a self taught crash course on using my newly acquired Sigma 500 f4.5, I headed about an hour northwest pf Phoenix to the Hassayampa River Preserve. I went both Friday and Saturday this week, but on Friday I neglected to load a memory card in the camera....lol

So here are a few from Saturday.

About 100ft away and poor lighting, but I think the DA*300mm and 1.4x TC did well with this Barred Owl yesterday.
