Don't write off the 150~450 which is half the price of the Sigma 500mm, smaller, and much more versatile. Images below taken with K1 in FF mode, 150~450 @ 450mm. The original uncropped image and a crop to bring out the hooded merganser. Think about the detail if the bird had been close enough to fill the frame.

That shot definitely proves the worth of the 150-450. My worth, however, would be the price to sift through my cremated ashes if I suggested to She Who Must Be Obeyed that I "need" one.

Is it me or does the squirrel just look better taken with the K-1?

I just had an opportunity to obtain an FA*600 and having seen the results from this lens and suffering from terminal LBA I took my K1 fund and then some and made the plunge.

Note you can see the flies flying above the back of the deer and you can see the coyote appears to be nursing pups. I can't wait to set this thing up properly
Man I would be trying to photograph that Cinnamon Teal for hours. I would put on camo and stay still if I had to.

I took the lil'Bigma to Derby Hill Bird Observatory to find some migrating warblers. I found two, but there was plenty of other birds to see.

Female Scarlet Tanager

The male didn't give me a good look.

Plenty of local nesting warblers, like Yellow-rumped, Yellow, and Common Yellowthroat.

Least Flycatcher

I didn't expect to get a photo of a Lincoln's Sparrow, but I knew it was there.

The two migrating warblers I did see, Palm Warbler

And Wilson's Warbler

Song Sparrow

Female Baltimore Oriole

Obligatory singing Song Sparrow...

The Bigma works just fine on the K1 for me! In all these Bigma years I have struggled with the AF and made many posts of how it hunts like a hound.
No more! On my K1 it is fast and accurate, no hunting just Bang! and snap the shot. Simply amazing to find such a thing on a Pentax, it is wonderful!

Squirrels no longer have to freeze for ages while I try to focus...but they do anyhow!

They keep yelling out....."are you ready? are you ready yet?" I was ready instantly with the K1!

How about a little fun?....I got a squirrel report of a clogged feeder.....

Yep, it was!

"Just sweeping up in here!"

"This is a hot box...I need some AC!"

I am not a serious shooter like most here, I just have a lot of fun and joy shooting, but the K1 has already brought more pleasure than I could ever imagine.
For serious shooters this is a dream come true, you guys deserve it and while you dazzle us all, I will enjoy your works as I do my usual fun stuff!

BTW- Early morning shooting on a dark and wet day is no longer put off until it brightens up for focusing.

Locked focus instantly....1/100 handheld @ 500mm (New SR is fantastic!) ISO 10,000 No noise reduction in or out of camera in this shot.

Regards!
