Lens calibration done. There is NO front/back focusing issue here, and my setting at 0 should be fine....

I agree !

No, not really, those two sentences do tell the story. It is not fiction and it is not a fairytale, it is as real as it gets! While I don't have the skills or the glass that most in this thread have, I don't have to to know that this is not just another Pentax. This is a whole new game.
Maybe I go overboard on my praise, but it is hard not to, it is all the absolute truth!

So far I have heard no one mention the articulating screen .......

I've used the articulating screen just once when doing initial tests with a K1. It's a feature that I've been looking for because I do quite a bit of macro, and at my age with two titanium hips I cannot easily get down* to look through the refconverter for low-level shots. The tilting screen with focus peaking should be a blessing for such work. BTW: I found the focus peaking a little more difficult to see on the K1 than on the K3. The bright outlines of the in-focus edges seem to be finer, narrower, and consequently less conspicuous. Haven't done a side-by-side comparison, but that was my impression during first use of the K1 tilting screen.

*You do not want to hear about getting back up.

The birds on this page are superb.....Ducatigaz...Norm.....Mccarvindh......I don't have any birds but I do have a couple of Bigma squirrels from today.

A little newbie guy...

And an old veteran...

The Bigma does better than I expected. Not like some of the primes here, but good enough to please the squirrels!

Regards!

Terrible weather most of the day today. But the sun did come out in the evening. Hopefully it is out tomorrow morning...

Just a few local warblers.

^^^ Fantastic! She's gorgeous. It must be quite the thrill to get such a shot.

It's been a while since I've posted, but I've been checking in on this thread almost daily. It's rained more often than not these last three weeks by me. There's a small thicket of intertwined hibiscus and forsythia on the property line I share with my neighbor, and during this wet weather I've seen a unusually high number of feathered visitors. Gray rainy skies may necessitate boosting the ISO, but I enjoy the deep color.

I shot all of these at ISO 800, but pushed up to three stops during PP.

I think you are right. I've only seen adult red-tails by me - and even that's only occasionally - but this is my first little one and comparing Googled images leads me to agree with you. Thanks for the correction.

That A-400 is really treating you nice... the Grackle is amazing, I had to call Tess over to see it. Often the best light for birds is overcast but bright.
