It's always worth going - often the birds are in "pockets" rather than spread across wide areas. Plan to spend 2 or three days (or more) to improve your chances - those eye-level shots of warblers are much harder to get at other times of the year.
Which is why I don't have any.

We were lucky enough to catch the last hour or so of a major migrant warbler "fallout" at Point Pelee (north shore of Lake Erie) last week. We were told that earlier there had been as many as ten birds in one small bush - we had to be satisfied with several in view at any one time!

Male Chestnut-sided Warbler

Female Chestnut-sided Warbler

Male Blackburnian Warbler

Male Cape May Warbler

Female Northern Parula

Blue-headed Vireo (not a warbler)
My cousin went to Orleans County today to find warblers. They had all left...they had been there yesterday...

I was probably lucky to find as many migrants as I did this week on the south shore on Lake Ontario.

4am drive out to Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge was well worth it this morning!

The Delmarva Fox Squirrel was removed from the endangered list in November, 2015.
Though they are still extremely rare and elusive...
Been trying to get a decent shot of one for months; this guy was stuffing his face and didn't mind me getting close to him.
Shot with K-3ii + DA*300

Rose-breasted Grosbeak

Blue-gray Gnatcatcher

Magnolia Warbler (male)

American Redstart (male)

Prothonotary Warbler (male)

Black-and White Warbler (female)

I normally see the moorhens chugging around on the lagoon. This one momentarily popped out of the reeds, allowing me to snatch a few shots. Samsung NX20, novoflex 400mm f8.

What great shots here as usual.....the birds and other wildlife is just terrific!

I'm still testing out my K1...today I tried the SR and found it wonderful!

1/50 @ 500mm handheld.....his tail moved a little!

1/50 @ 500mm handheld

1/25 at 450 mm handheld

Mostly thrilled that my Bigma now focus fast as a Jackrabbit! I would have never gotten these before the K1. The Bigma would need to hunt forever like an old blind hound to get these fast moving jittery birds together.

Shooting has never been more fun for me! I did give up being a Pro because I missed my old Farm Pants and Farm Boots...as well as my old straw hat! But if I was gonna be a Pro, it would be with the K1!

Regards!

Serious crop (to 3MP) from the K-3, HD 1.4X & FA*300/2.8:

Also this mystery warbler that's been hanging around: not so serious crop but ISO 2000.

Damn, Rupert, that is massively impressive performance!

Due to the exceptionally mild winter we experienced here in northern NJ, some of the younger squirrels developed a fungal skin condition which results in itchy bald patches. It usually does not pose a serious health concern and clears up after a month or so.

All shots K-5 II + A400/5.6

Itchy squirrel on a drizzly day.

Happy squirrel feasting at sundown

Watchful woodchuck, poised to flee

This woodchuck lives at a local park and while not domesticated is at least a bit habituated to humans. I sat on a hill and waited for him to pop up. Fairly heavy crop.
Once again, a drizzly day.

I think you're out doing me with your A-400. If there was an A-400 crown, I'd mail it to you.

Female American Redstart? If so it will be very mobile, opening its wings and flicking its tail.

Wow... 1/25 over 400mm?!
I will need to rethink this whole "never buying a K-1" talk...
By the way, I'm thoroughly enjoying watching your file names increase. Looks like you're into the 400s now! Nice shooting!
Hope that Bigma is still treating you well!
