Some of my first shots DA*300 & DA1.4 TC handheld, wide open. I am going to love this lens I am actually very pleased with all my DA* lenses !

My tests suggest that a 150~450 + 1.4x TC provide a totally satisfactory 600mm.

No Macro required :)

I have to say that the level of detail that this lens achieves, especially as it's a zoom, is quite staggering. My old Sigma is good, but not in the same league. Shot at a reported 574mm.

Yes, well, if you multiply it out precisely 450 X 1.4 = 630mm, but I was just rounding it off to a typical SFL size, or maybe allowing for focus breathing although many lenses 500mm or longer have IF so all of them are probably less than the nominal focal length when focused to the typical distances of subjects these lenses are used to image (commonly wildlife, especially birds).
