Oh, say it ain't so, Norm.

Are you implying there may be something other than Pentax's malfeasance and/or lackadaisical attitude toward AF issues that could possibly affect AF speed?

I fully expect every Pentax SDM lens to have a ring motor (DC) in it at some point in the future. I got the DA*200 because I could afford it, and given the prices of the new lenses, there's no guarantee I'll be able t afford a redone 200.

Yeah, I know what ya mean. For decades I was happy with MF Tamron Adaptall SP lenses - the 90, 180, 300, 80-200 were fine tools. Then I found out eyes don't stay young forever and a nerve injury bagged my focus-hand.

I've since transitioned to AF equivalent lenses and learned it's not that the pig can whistle "The Bridge Over the River Kwai" in perfect beat and pitch that counts, but that he manages to whistle at all that's amazing.

Auto-focus -- gotta trust but verify. An' that certainly does slow things down to MF speed doesn't it.

You could disobey her one more time for old time's sake.

It's only a bit over a month until our 51st anniversary -- I think I would like to live long enough to see it. Besides, her birthday present to me was a LensMaster RH-2 Gimbal Head, accompanied with a comment along the lines of "I hope that's the last thing you buy something for your photography ...."

I took a little over 1800 in 8 days. Already posted a bear and a glacier, so an eagle must be next.....

I have 826 raw DNG files to download requiring 31.8 Gig of hard disk space. I didn't have that much on my usual computer, so I'm copying them over the network to another computer--much slower. Looks like it will
take most of the night. these are all on the K-1. I have a smaller number on a K-3 that my wife and I shared/

7 or 8 shot pano with my K300 f4.0. Sadly no critters came out to play today in Denali, at least for me.

You mean if Mr. Rockies bought you a 645z you'd turn it down? It's alright to admit you'd take it. We won't hold it against you. It won't get you kicked out of the K-3 lovers club.
