Some animals of the same specie are really comfortable with being approached by human beings (no crop, except 3:2 to 4:3).

The kestrel image is especially nice, perfect combination of sharp, colorful bird and smooth bokeh that sets him off perfectly.

Photography has been on the backburner for awhile since selling and buying a house.
Went out this morning and found my arch nemesis but wish I would've had my tripod for a sharper photo.
700mm cropped to 3mp,1/320SS, monopod.

Well, you *might* have gotten a sharper photo, but this one looks darn good!!

Thirteen Lined Ground Squirrel

I was able to get my first photos of a Thirteen Lined Ground Squirrel, unfortunately he had been asked to dinner by a Swainson Hawk and the poor squirrel was simply not up to making any cute poses. The hawk, however, seemed up for a photo Nature's way I guess.....

Sometimes it pays to be the right size. Humans are relatively big animals. When I see images such as the ones above, I'm grateful we're not the size of a squirrel. Seeing close-ups of a spider, I'm really glad we're not the size of a fly. The natural world is a pretty scary place. Ironically, the organisms that are the greatest threat to us are incredibly tiny, too small to see without a microscope.

But is not it an amazing engineering? Macro world is fascinating the most.

Other than wildlife, when you don't have anything at hand other than a DFA150-450.

I've taken a few images such as these with the 15-450mm, that is, images of a subject that seems to be a natural for a normal FL or macro lens, but the excellent IQ, shallow DOF with smooth bokeh, and subtle compression of the subject gives a different "look" to a 150-450mm image. And those rocks are fine B&W studies

Oh, I hate when I miss good opportunities. Its a clear but quite colorless tonight. I just had a quick glimpse out the window and discovered the moon was 1 degree over the horizon, rolling on top of some distant mountain peaks. Red-pink-purple-ish color. I grabbed the camera with the 18-35mm that was on it and took a shot before I discovered a faint pointlight to the right of the moon. An airplane coming from behind the horizon, moving closer to the moon and getting brighter. I ran downstairs to pick up a tele lens (300mm+ according to the thread) and just when I got it on the camera, the airplane had crossed the moon and the planes apparent size could have fit perfectly in front of the moon. And the cloud that made the moon look like Saturn had moved away. Anyway, i got a few pictures without the plane.

I am a fan of Great Blue Herons, and seldom have been able to capture one well. Great shooting both of you.
There was this gentleman Great Blue Heron posing for me. He was giving me that look..yeah I saw you before, and kept on fishing. All shots are full frame K-1 with SMC 500mm f/4.5.
