Really nice shot. How close were you to that bird? Looks like you could pet him

K3 and DFA 150-450

The above photo was from my deck..... so I thought I'd go get the K-1 and take the same shot (roughly) to see how they would compare.... same settings....same processing..... same end crop.... all at 450mm

K3

K-1

Clearly I need to be quicker! Anyway.... maybe next time.... ;one tree branches look better with K-1.... but who knows..... sample group of one is what it is...... meaningless!

:-) that's why I decided to use only one camera. I sometimes shoot with the wrong setting when being used to only one camera, so I couldn't think of shooting with two different cameras, (even less with two camera of different brands). More than AF speed, there is also the man speed limit to operate the machine.

That's a fine capture of a stunning, fierce-looking bird

Thank you. I was only about 30 feet from the bird. It was a fledgling that had just flown from the nest maybe 100 feet way and it didn't seem to think it could fly away from me.

I love the pose of the second egret. Here's a few of my favorites.
A little dinner...

A leisurely scratch....

Fluff up the feathers a little...

one final stretch....

and then go face the kids...

Cedar waxwings are one of the prettiest birds. I can never get an image I'm pleased with. I envy you!
