Totally my philosophy!
It took me a while to realise that it's no good going for a low ISO if the shutter isn't fast enough (with the Sigma f8 is pretty much the norm) and for the use the cricket pics get, small prints or on the web, and by the time the ISO has gone too high to be usable they have packed in playing cricket because of 'bad light'

Some more pics with tamron 350mm f5.6 preset + NX20, this mornngs little bike trip up to the Sychnant Pass. The rowans are a sign that summer is waning.

The whole side of Alltwen hill was blackened in the gorse fire last June.

But elsewhere the heather is glorious purple.

Didn't see any birds, just caught a glipse of a fox slinking into the undergrowth.

It's many years since I could describe cycling up there as 'little'

It's not so bad from the east side. it's the west side that's a "vertical" hump!

I used to cycle from Penmaenmawr, and it's quite a ride with the 1 in 7 bit coming near the top, recuperate with an ice cream at the top then race down into Conwy and then back along the coast road (this is before it became the dual carriageway)
Oh to be young again

I spent holidays in that part of Wales as a kid. I like both hilly bike riding and photography, but I like to keep them separate when it comes to humping DSLRs and 300mm + lenses around!

That's the side I referred to as the vertical hump!! Pic here:

NX20 + lens + bean bag fits conveniently into a small over the shoulder tripod bag.

Now we have the official cycle path. This follows the original old Telford route around the headlands.

This evening I was extremely fortunate with my inexpensive, seocond-hand Sakar 1:8 500mm lens on my handheld Pentax K-x.

That's a striking bird, even if it's monochrome, and a very nice composition.

Some shots from Jetty Island. Caspian Terns were out far in the mud (low tide). I did try to get close but I was getting buried in the mud, so I went back to shore and use my
usual waiting game and let the birds come to me and it worked.

Some cool shots of Caspian Terns and Osprey.
