Some shots from Jetty Island. Caspian Terns were out far in the mud (low tide). I did try to get close but I was getting buried in the mud, so I went back to shore and use my
usual waiting game and let the birds come to me and it worked.

Some cool shots of Caspian Terns and Osprey.

Thank you all for a nice comments. It was a fun month of August. I was fortunate to be able to stay home for the whole month and sneak out between our house projects to get
some bird shooting. Starting new job Thu Sep-1st...back to reality, so shooting only in the weekends now.

Ring-billed Gull?? carrying stollen nut from the nearby group of people having picnic. This happened so fast I did not even have the chance to see
what it was when zoomed by me. Full frame shot (no cropping). Interesting colors.

K-1 and DA 55-300mm WR.

Gorgeous shots. Mais, je pense que c'est un Grand Chevalier. (pale colour at the base of the bill)

The dark band on the tail is too wide for Ring-bill and the bill too large. It's probably a California or Herring, third-year.

Following on from my post of the Dragonfly in flight taken with the 1.4 Tele and 150-450, I managed to grab another few shots this weekend, this time without the tele, so I have cropped in, as there was a greater distance between me and the subject. Still pretty happy with them. Much slower shutter speed than before (1/500th instead of 1/1250th), partly due to lower light, and because it's side on. Still pretty happy with them. Migrant Hawker agian btw.

A quiet day on a kayak in Blackwater. We did see several eagles but one was too far away and we startled two we didn't see in the trees next to us but we could not react quick enough to get a shot. So we had to settle for some others. All taken at 600mm on a kayak with a short monopod.

K-3 and DA*200, by itself, with the 1.4 TC or with the 1.7x AF adapter. No stacking was needed today.
ISO 400, ƒ5.6 , AV

It's getting to be fall and the fruits are coming ripe, which is a perfect time for Cedar Waxings to pig out. Tess found this bush full of birds on her morning run and sent me out to get pictures. She's my loyal scout.

There were 30-40 birds in this flock, all I had to do was stand there and wait for one to come close. Chasing was not allowed, they'd all leave. Moving your camera was not allowed, scratching your head was not allowed, but in the end, worth it in my opinion.

That was good.......
