I am trying to learn DeepSky Stacker, I have a series of 15 images that I could use to improve the image details, but the learning curve is a bit steep for me... more to come. This one is directly exported from Lr6.

This is the same, but processed in DSS (16 images stack)

K-3 and DA*200 with stacked TCs, HD DA 1.4 and F1.7x

I've been out on a campsite trying to get images of the locals. When you're out in the bush and you don't have clean sight lines it can be real tough to get a shot....

White-Throated Sparrow, best of 8.

Yellow bellied sapsucker, best of maybe 100. This guy is really fast and always behind branches..... and is usually up in the top of a tall pine. Most times he's gone before I get the lens trained on him. This represents parts of 3 days trying to get images of him. Wilderness birds are tough to capture. As soon as he sees me, he goes around to the backside of the tree.

But I did get something special. All you guys who have seen my feeder Nuthatches, I'm sure you've often wondered "What do those guys eat out in the bush?"

Well here we have a wilderness capture of a Nuthatch. He actually looks quite healthy. Just because they get an easy meal at my place, doesn't mean they need my help.

I should probably say how happy I am I wasn't out there with a K-1 and it's 4 FPS. And using a K-1 and the same lens , the image would be smaller.8 FPS gave me an 8 shot sequence. Do the math, using a K-1 you'd have 4 images, and a 50/50 chance you wouldn't have your favourite. Sometimes it's just all about how much you can cram into a second.

I like the bottom 2 shots bird diving down.

Just got my K-3 with the grip and what a camera. Shutter is so quiet, and yes 8 FPS will come handy. Can't wait to take it to the field to chase birds (I am after Barn Owls now). I got the feeling that I will be shooting more with K-3 and use K-1 when needed for higher ISO, landscapes etc.

Here are some recent shots

K-1 SMC A 400mm f/5.6

Cedar Waxwing

American Goldfinch (some kind of party )

American Robin

Anna's Hummingbird

K-1 SMC 500mm f/4.5

Great Blue Heron

This is another try with DSS
14 frames + 1 black treated with DSS...
Had to export to TIFF, was crashing with DNGs

not sure if my DSS technique is okay, I dont see much improvements from the single frame above...

Those are lovely. I'd be interested in your experience with the K3 vs K1. The low light performance of the K3 is what I find lacking, and has me looking at the K1.

Any chance you have a 1.7x AF adapter? My big burning question is, will my A-400 ƒ5.6 focus with the F 1.7x AF adapter on a K-1? I know it won't on my K-3, but maybe the K-1 is better.

Shots from today... there didn't turn out to be a theme, so I'll just pretend like they were always supposed to go here.
Here and the K-3 images thread.

K-3
DA*200 plus HD DA 1.4 TC for 280mm 400 ISO ƒ5.6

That is one of the reasons I bought K-1...low light shooting with higher ISO is fantastic and better dynamic range, not to mention details. I will shoot with K-3 this weekend.

I am sorry Norm, I don't have any TC, I wish I could help you.
