We seem to have consensus on the fine quality of those bird images. I'm certainly aboard.

The 150~600mm Tamron used to take the picture below is a very good long zoom, predictably a bit soft at the long end, but at the price point a real bargain. I've sold it (and the Nikon 7100 body) since I got a Pentax 150~450mm, but if either this Tammy or the Sigma sport 150~600mm were offered in K-mount, I'd succumb to LBA PDQ.

K1 + DFA 150-450. Just wondering if I should use K1' skin tone #1 or #2 for the portrait.

Interesting , excellent shots, that proves that the camera is not so important as having a sharp long lens (or scope).

Thanks Bob. When I got my macro lens a few years ago I sent one of my first pics to Prof. Stephen Marshall at Guelph University for i.d. He replied: "It's a Dogbane Beetle. It's on the cover of my book" ("Insects: their Natural History and Diversity"). I felt really guilty about not having seen the book, but now it's in my library. It's fascinating and really helpful for figuring out the bugs in eastern North America. Of course now there's also BugGuide.Net.
