First shots with the D610 + Tamron 150-600. ISO 1200-4000.
Nice shots from that combo Bryce.

Good shooting - especially getting down to eye level

I went to the mail this morning and there was a K-1 there.

But my subjects stay the same.

K-1 and Tamron SP 300 and F1.7x AF adapter. (510mm ƒ4/5)
ISO 3200, ƒ7.1 AV mode.

This combo should become my regular blind shooting combo, in my back yard where I have the opportunity to make up missed images.

'

First impressions, I'm not sure it locks focus as fast as my K-3. I definitely missed shots because of the frame rate and buffer size. I'm going to have to study the manual more. The images when you get them are top notch. Oh , and I also missed the APS-c reach. I'm calculating about a stop better for noise... I Need ƒ8 instead of ƒ5.6 for normal shooting, but ISO 800 looks to be about the same as ISO 3200 so I end up one stop to the good. Dynamic range and colour are very good.

You get a K-1 and the first thing you think is, 500mm ain't what it used to be."

But as I understand too you'll be able to keep more quality when you combine 2 TC something that you do often . And that 300 f/2.8 is the perfect lens for it !

I know that ruppert quite satisfied also with his 50-500 maybe that's something to try at some point too?

750mm is the new 500mm, but you can always go to crop mode. Think of the latter as a built-in 1.4X TC.

I think of 24 MP instead of 15 in crop modes as the 1.4 TC equalizer, then the 1.5 crop is bonus.
And so far, any TC I can use with the K-1, I can use with the K-3, so ultimately I'm still behind. I'm thinking of hiking with the K-3 on the camera for it's burst and reach, the K-1 in the bag for landscape and for wildlife where I have time to set up, and where it has sufficient reach. Essentially the K-1 becomes a replacement for my K-5, only with a K-5 super double the res mode.

Great shots Norm, and congrats on the new camera - I'll be keeping an eye on your tag line about APS-C being your "favourite set of compromises" for the next little while!

Please refer back to my point about the DA*300; it's ridiculously slow AF, tendency to hunt and lack of focus limiting. Optically the lens is amazing, but these other factors make it really frustrating when trying to photograph anything moving fast.
I didn't realize that....

All shots with DA*300 and 1.4x TC:

All shots (and much more) in the range of 30minutes.

More BIF some days later:

SO far it hasn't changed, although, I've had the K-1 for all of one day.
