A local resident Rufous Woody, taken on last Saturday with my KS1 and the Sigma 150-500mm.

During the trip to the same location for him to try out the lens he told me he wasn't getting good results from his Canon 200 mm f/1.8(!!), 300 mm f/2.8, 400 mm f/2.8,100-400 mm f/4. He then said he was mostly using a P&S(?!?!!) with a 20X zoom for good shots at long ranges plus a Nikon spotting scope with a 40X eyepiece.
Wow, this person needs a psych eval! I see the same thing from people in the hospital..."I take six blood pressure medications but I can't get it under control" Do you exercise... No. Do you eat a low sodium diet... No. Do you take your medication at the scheduled times... No. Do you go to follow-up appointments with your doctor... No, I just come to the emergency room when I don't feel good.
Not willing to do anything for themselves and expect all these external forces to fix everything. You should have made a bet with him. If you can take 10 sharp photos with his 400/2.8 you get to keep it.

No Bet! I don't want his Canon gear. Pentax is easier to use as well as more lenses available for less money except no 400 f/2.8. My big old 400 f/5 gives me good pictures even in grey overcast. That 400 f/2.8 weighs too much to be handheld by this senior citizen so I would gain nothing. But I am confident I would have won the bet!!!!

You don't see the vision here. Get it, flip it, buy all the Pentax gear you want!

I took these from the car as usual with my K-5/FA*600mmF4ED[IF[/Eckla window mount. I also used a cable release and braced the camera/lens with one hand and this has improved detail by further minimising movement.

Excellent as ever. Do you shoot mirror up as well?

No, because of the delay in the shutter opening the bird would have probably moved out of position

Ever tried to track a bird in live view... I really wanted it to work but in the end, gave up and sold the K-01.

I haven't used live view in years...even in situations where it might work...

Now that I have a flippy screen, I'm trying it out with macro... but it's an on going process.

This female Spruce Grouse was cooperative but the sky was very dark. The first shot was at ISO 800, then it moved off the trail and into the forest - the remaining 3 are at ISO 3200 and uncropped.
