Carnage alert! Penguin lovers may want to avoid this post.

Leopard seals have to eat too... K1 DFA 150-450

It had snowed that evening, leaving a layer of slush on the water about fifty yards from shore. Rather than swim beneath the slush and surface right at the shoreline, the king penguins were surfacing at the slush line and splashing their way to shore. This made easy picking for the leopard seals. Once they grabbed a penguin, they would spin like mad and essentially peel the skins to access the strong pectoral muscles.

On my last w-e outing, I tried to make a video of the Snow Geese with the K-1
at the beginning I was using the DFA24-70, but the last sequence was made with the FA*250-600 (hence permitting me to publish in this thread hopefully!)
This is the first time I tried the video feature on the K-1...
Didn't really figured out how to deal with the focus, so be indulgent...

I still lurk this thread, great photos as always.
How about lurking less and posting more? I do envy the AF and lens availability of the Nikon.

I'll second that!

Although we might have trouble getting Travis outside right now. It is miserably cold. Did a bird count yesterday and the only things out and about were dippers.

My first hour shooting with the new Sigma 500mm f/4.5 and I fell in love. It's deceivingly tiny size almost fooled me, she still weighs a tad more than the 560mm but is 100x easier to maneuver.

A common snipe to go with the one posted above. The perch has been in regular use.

Congrats for your new acquisition ... makes me wanting that lens too for an alternate of the heavy FA250-600...
Did you bought it here on PF marketplace?
