Treacherous ice on the trails today - cut our trip short to avoid a broken hip (not to mention camera!). Somebody had set up a feeding station so at least I came away with something!

Downy Woodpecker, K-3, DA* 300mm (not enough light for the TC)

Love the shot of the buzzard Gary! I may have to look into that Eckla window mount for my 500.

I almost always see deer on my travels, but very rarely do I photograph them. It's usually "oh look, another deer" as we keep walking or driving. This buck was too nice to not photograph though

Pondering the old K-1 or K3 with DFA 150-450 (at 450 and f8) for birding question at the moment.... so playing with high ISO on the K-1
Both processed with Prime Noise reduction in DXO to tiff then run through Piccure.

at iso 3200

at iso 8,000 (no bird...)

This is a male Greater Spotted Woodpecker. It came in for food that I had put out. Taken from the drivers seat of a car. K-5/FA*600mmF4ED[IF]/Eckla window mount.
