Thanks woodywesty, glad you like this collection.

Thanks rgknief60, those flycatchers + the below lifers + others lifers (total 40++) were from a 4 days birding trip at Chiangmai.
Would you ever consider doing a write-up on the forums talking about your techniques?
Where you shoot - what hours of the day - typical setup - solo or with team of people - blind or no blind - how do you track down your subject, or is it pick a spot and wait?

I could spend 40 hours in the bush and never get a single one of these photos. Yet you achieve lifers.

You have an incredible talent. What we see is the fraction of a second the shutter was open; I'd like to hear about the process to getting there. - If you are willing to share of course!

Who said that big cities are too much polluted to take good pics of our Moon?

Thanks Steven. Mr. Handsomepants is also known as a Northern Harrier. Adult males are dark grey and known as "grey ghosts".

A male Anna's hummer flashing his gorget at me.

Awesome detail.

This shot was taken from a car drivers seat at 1/125.with my K-5/FA*600mmF4ED[IF] on an Eckla window mount and I think this shows how steady the mount holds the weight.

Meanwhile at my place, -20ªC, sitting in a blind with the biggest downiest coat I can find. Trying to convince myself that what I feel isn't my fingers freezing solid, it's just a cramp or something.

They say you need to suffer for your art. No one says HOW that suffering must progress! You can bring a hand warmer with you...

Rub it in, rub it in. We've gone from morning lows just below zero F (about minus 18C) to an expected high on Thursday above 50F (about 10C). Tumultuous. The only birds I've seen regularly around the yard are slate colored juncos, sometimes called "snow birds."

We've had a few days of about 40C recently.... when that happens I look quite enviously at your lovely winterish scenes..... but then think through the actual temperatures and it ends up about even! I lived in Tasmania for a few years so the lowest I understand is -8 or -9C... and 70-80 knot winds....amazing how we all adjust.

I am also in Massachusetts, insane 50 degree temperature swing the last two days. However, my new toy showed up two days ago in the form of the D FA 150-450. Hoping to get out this weekend and play even though the temps are going back down again!!

Regards,
There are extra hand warmers in my camera bags in case of emergency. The blind is 40 feet from my house. I'd rather just go in and warm up. Having a hand warmer doesn't get you a cup of coffee, like going in the house does.
