Not mad only because he did not see the paparazzi taking pictures while he was bathing.

Allow this ex-pat Brit to translate - the expression means "mad" more in the British sense of "insane" rather than "angry". It really is quite entertaining to watch them careening around the fields at insane rates of speed at this time of year (but that might be more than a Pentax AF system can cope with!).

Congratulations. Was that the "nestar" or the standard version? These are t-mount lenses of course.
Well that's my review here on PF. I do think these offer probably the best resolution of the vintage 400mm presets - certainly way ahead of the generic 400mm f6.3's. The tokina RMC 400mm f6.3's are close however and being later lenses - typically 1970's or even early 80's as opposed to 1960's for the tamron f6.9's - they have better coatings and contrast.
Note the closer focus cheat in my review - albeit not as convenient a cheat as for the nestar or the 350mm tamron preset. It's standard practice to carry an extension tube while eg birding...
I am unsure which version of the lens I will be receiving. I will check it out when the lens arrives. Thank you for referring me to your very helpful review. I assume I will have to purchase a T mount-K mount converter, but will hold off until I see what comes in the mail.

i read once that the "mad hatter" in the Alice stories came from the fact that the exposure to mercury which jin some fashion used in the making of hats at one time caused some hatters to go insane

don't know if that is true or not, just something I read once

This is a well known effect of mercury.

Alessandro Manzoni in The Betrothed refers to an Italian practice of carrying a phial of metallic mercury because it was believed that the vapours would bring immunity to plague. The book referred to a plague carried into Italy by an invading German army. BTW, one or two of Alice's sons were killed by Germans in WWI and it is thought that Lewis Carroll requested to marry Alice when she was only 12. That did not happen, and after the time that is thought to have happened her parents did not talk to him again.

Great shot guys! Just came back from my birding trip at Yunnan, China. Happy to record quite a number of lifers, especially some of the unique species that can only be found at the high altitude mountainous area in Yunnan province, China.

Sharing the Golden bush-robin from the Muscicapidae's family.

Adult Male:

Adult Female:

Thanks Luis, looks like you have got quite a number of lifers.
