can you give quick easy to understand instructions on how to do that

I have the big guy - HD Pentax-D FA 150-450mm F4.5-5.6 ED DC AW
It's a hassle, you have to take a few shots, look at them then adjust the slider then take another shot, look at it etc...
Much like in the micro adjustment review here sans the fancy ruler/target adjustment gadgets here
Just look for a suitable target like a tree branch or lamp post. If you have railing or something that is at a shallow angle and shows off the focal plane it can help telling how much you are back or front focused.
The subject details and outline will tell the proper focus, but this is nit-picking, just look at the image at 4-8x magnification and you will be able to tell if the focus improved.

Edit: Oh, and use AF.S single point center point
Edit 2: Don't forget to set the adjustment that it saves it for that specific lens code and not for all of the lenses. C26, setting 3 - Apply One

More from Lafitte's Cove in Galveston. I spent 10 days there from sun-up to sun-down to catch the migration. I logged over 118 species in Ebird that I had never seen before. I met a guy who taught me how to follow the wind and weather on how to find birds. Using what he taught me, I caught 2 fallouts. It was the best birding experience I have had so far and am forever hooked.

This Parula was giving me the poses.

This Bronzed Cowbird became my nemesis. I just couldn't get a decent shot of it. I saw it many times, but never in the right place.

Although the tree on Points of Ceders Island in the Little Assawoman Bay in DE died there is still grass there. This large gull was keeping a watchful eye, guarding his nest, as I approached on my small boat. This is about a 25% crop of the original - as close as my boat would go.

A trip to the zoo!

Going to Cleveland Metroparks Zoo today for a chance to check out my recently acquired Pentax-M 400mm f 5.6. I will try keeping low ISO settings and small apertures in order to use short exposures and avoid hauling a tripod around in the heat! There are lots of fences and walls, so maybe I can find some sort of small cushion to rest the lens upon instead of relying upon a tripod. I hope to get a few results worth posting.

Best of luck, if necessary try self bracing, take vest or jacket to use to cushion, either carry or wear tied around waist if too hot

Trust SR if your camera has it

Experiment, tree, post etc, etc, etc and so forth and so on as brace

How about short length of rope or shoe string to form loop to hang lens on

Have fun, and bring an extra shirt or t-shirt around bunched up to put it under the lens. Only trust the focus confirmation beep if it repeats, it took some time to dial myself in with the Sigma 400/5.6 manual focus lens.

Old shot to prove it is possible to get a good shot from a manual lens today.

Never leave home without a bean bag. I make my own. A local plastics recycling place has the ideal plastic granules for filling.

Another from my outing earlier this week to Points of Ceders Island in the Little Assawoman Bay in DE, a rookery being devastated by pollution. The Young Snowy Egrets were doing Touch and Go's, jumping from one perch to another, practicing for flight certification.

I know you've considered getting a K3 for a while now. How do you like it so far?
