As promised, some handheld Bee shots from today. No Teleconverter today. I have included one original shot, non cropped, and 2 crops. Honestly the 150-450 never ceases to amaze me, especially in good light.

Brown thrasher. K1+ 150~450 @ 450mm, moderately cropped. Color would be better had he been out in the sun.

National Bison Range, near Dixon, MT. - K3 and OG Sigma 50-500 mm, I find the sharpness to be lacking at ~500 mm (the western meadowlark is a bit fuzzy), but given the price, weight, etc, it's alright.

Nice post and wonderful capture.

I have seen this bird (upland sandpiper) a couple of times on my way home from work but did not have my camera with me at the time. Finally had it captured today. This is the first year I seen this bird and it was very cooperative while I took the shots in my car from across the road.

Perhaps angling for a modeling career? After all the effort we put in to chasing, sneaking up on, and waiting in ambush for birds, a cooperative one is really welcome, ain't? I like the pose and the shot.

You have to take into account the air shimmer over longer distances. Around 200m distance it is already very prominent, especially with smaller subject in the small details. 500mm on the 50-500 OS is nice and sharp when the air is still and your subject is closer.

These are from last month - didn't get round to them. Something a little different to the usual mallards and shelducks - a nice pair of shovelers. FD 400 + NX20.

Bears and flowers

We're headed back to Yukon later this month and I couldn't help browsing pics from our 2012 trip there to get myself in the right state of mind. These were both taken from the car with my old K-r and DA 55-300mm lens.

"Black" bear (this one brown, I know!) with Lupines
