I love how photo # 2 shows how well it mimics a branch jutting off the limb of the tree

amazing what you can learn from these photos, I had never heard of such a bird

Blue-wing Pitta, a juvenile that reached here about three weeks ago. Taken with my K-70 and Sigma 150-500 HSM.

A visit to a provincial park east of Toronto, on Lake Ontario

Dunlin

Sanderling

No duck shots today - wonder why they were so skittish? (not a telephoto shot! - and yes, it's a Provincial Park.)

Probably not safe to go about making photographs of birds when hunters are throwing lead at them.

This has been going on for a number of years - I don't know the history but it must have made sense to someone at the time. A bit like the Algonquin Park being open to logging. Meanwhile you still have to pay the full rate to get into the park, even when you can't get access to the prime spots. Otherwise it's one of our favourite destinations - lots of different habitats in a small area, good trails, good birding, not too far from the City.

We were there there today - Sunday. One of the three days of the week that's still left to us non-hunters, while the duck hunting season lasts.

A recently minted female Superb-fairy Wren, learning how the wings work.
Mum, Dad, and all the uncles and aunts were keeping a close eye on proceedings.
K-3 II, DFA 150-450 + 1.4x TC handheld. See exif for shot details.

Cheers,
Terry

Usually it's one stage in the natural selection process, the ones who can't take off, can't take off...

Apologies for inflicting yet another Cooper's Hawk on you. This is a bit unusual (for me) it was taken shooting East from the porch with the setting sun behind me. The bird was farther away than in my previous shots so I swapped the Tamron 1.4x out and shot with the A 2x-L between the K-3 & F*600. I don't use the 2X often but it worked pretty well--this was cropped down to about 7MP.

It was raining and my SMC A* 2.8 400 ED[IF] was on the tripod when this Phoebe showed up. I decided to add my Rear Converter-A 1.4X-L and the Pentax F AF 1.7 Adaptor just to see what that combo with the K3ii could do.... I just guessed what size the lens was when the camera asked me...
