Most all of my orioles have moved on, these are from a couple of days ago.
I didn't straighten the first one, it would have cut off most of the left and right birds.
My HD 1.4x TC came today, got some shots with it that I'll post tomorrow.
DA 300* shots, cropped except for the first.

Thank you.
I suspect it was more luck than good management, they are notoriously difficult (...for me at least) to catch at the right moment, and get some detail amongst all that white.
Easier when they are landing than when taking off.

Cheers,
Terry

My HD 1.4x TC came just in time yesterday to get this series. (loving it!)
All SOOC, no cropping, only a slight straightening of a few, 300* plus TC, f6.7, 800 ISO.

For anyone thinking about getting Pentax's 1.4x TC and wondering how much more reach it will give the DA* 300, here's my neighbor's chimney without, and with.

And this one, cropped, was me seeing how close the combo would still focus.
I'm guessing this was about 12 feet away.

I’m a big fan of the TC. I choose to shoot with it about 90% of the time since the benefit of the extra reach outweighs the sight image quality loss.
