True, but I think that's what we can expect.

Pentax is apparently debating whether to name the new telephoto lens DA or DA*, that at least has to be a good sign in terms of image quality. I also implies that the lens is WR (all da* is) and that it probably has at least SDM (hopefully DC), since no Da* has screw drive.

What makes you think that? It's shown as DA in the roadmap and the barrel is marked DA. I haven't seen anything to make me doubt it's DA or that there's any debate going on.

I think Adam mentioned this from the interview at CP+

A DA* lens means more than just weather sealing. I would say from the images I have seen, not personal experience, tells me the DA* lenses are sharper. I would assume the 60-250mm & 50-135mm beat the 50-200mm & 55-300mm, the 16-50mm beats the 16-45mm easily and so on.
What it also means though, if I can steal a line from the Notorious B.I.G. (popular rapper from the 90's), is "more money and more problems." I've only had one SDM lens and I have heard the rumors that there is a 2nd version of the SDM motor, but right after I sold it I got a message from the buyer saying that the motor had failed and I don't want that worry with a $2,500.00-5,000.00 investment.

I was noticing the story on the front page which speculated that the lens looks to be weather sealed. I'm assuming that would mean that there won't be a drop-in filter. Any thoughts?

If they want it to sell in numbers.. leave it at DA (WR).. if the IQ is good enough it could have been a DA*.. word will spread as the lens gets out there in the market, and just drive up demand for it.
If they name it at DA*, it usually carries the price tag to go with it and will unfortunately make many look for other solutions at lower price points.

Very much like the DA 55-300 being an EXCELLENT telephoto zoom for it's price.. bang for the buck that lens is hard to beat for range & IQ.

I would agree with those.

I second that. Maybe beats it but not easily.

I just posted on the Lense News thread about the apparent MIA of the DA16-45 from that new K-mount timeline just released. Wondering if its true and what replaces it.

That is good to hear since I feel like I've heard more bad than good about its performance and QC here on the forum.

I hope this is the case, now we will wait and see. . .

Very blue sky! My first reaction was that they were just too vivid but it didn't take me long to get on board with that. They are terrific!

We're going to have to ask you to break out your "make it dull" filter, and while you're at it, if you could make the image a little bit blurry by shaking the shot, that would be great.

Fantastic capture, and wicked sharp.
