Lovely as usual.

Just for my education, do you shoot with a remote when using the FA*600?

I use a CS-205 cable remote most of the time.

This is what he thinks of Pentax for shooting wildlife.
There was a wildlife exhibition at my grade school when I was a kid. A raptor, species unknown, landed on the basketball hoop of the gymnasium and performed this party trick. I still recall being surprised at how much stuff comes out of them.

I'd say it complements your ongoing research into the photographic preferences of pardalotes Craig.
Yesterday I extended my study to the K3, DA*300, Tamron-f 1.4 TC combo.

I have to say that they didn't seem inclined to pose for very long, perhaps if I ditch the Tamron.

Nice shot Craig. Lots of pollen on the head!

Always a tough choice whether to mount my Kenko TC or just go with the bare 300 and crop. I tend to put the TC on the FA*300 only when the birds are more than about 12-15m away, and only then when the light is good enough. Putting aside the one-stop penalty of the TC, the longer the effective focal length the more it seems to eat light, and the AF performance does suffer.

Indeed. These ones stay at altitude and eat vegetation, bugs and grubs, with the odd ground squirrel or available game. They look quite good. There is a very large acreage of clearcut on the mountain with lots of fresh greens.

They are fun to watch. I'm 100+ yards away, they know I'm there. I find them by smell.

I would have thought they would be down for the Kokanee spawn?

Do you have an exceptional sense of smell or are they that bad?

Not these ones, there isn't a creek nearby. I hope to get to the Lardeau River to see the spawn and hopefully bears.

And yes they do stink.
