I reduce the sizes of my images typically by more than 50% before I post them on flickr. This one was full of details. I believe F/6.3 is where the Sigma 500mm F/4.5 is at its strongest with the K-3. Higher than that I think the combo starts to run into diffraction.

One reason one switched to Sony is because of their 400mm F/2.8 flourite lens. It's a beauty but I would cost me.
Look at the Canon 400mm f2.8L lens, the last version. If there is a thing that stop photographers to jump from Canon to Sony, then the L lenses are in my opinion the biggest reason, with the second being the Pro support that is unmatch by any other manufacturer.

Good technical support isnít what Iíve heard about Canon over the years. Recently one of my flickr contacts wrote his experiences with Canon tech support on Flickr.

I'm back from an afternoon in the park.

The day started off with this guy, he has string of conneted burrows under he snow, this one has many entrances and this one doesn't even have foot prints going to it. Obviously he got there in a snow tunnel.

There's still couple of feet of snow, but there is open water in the creeks of Algonquin. Costello Creek.

Speaking of tunnels under the snow, this guy was taking stored food from his tunnel and eating it out in the fresh air.

What's a winter visit to the park without Pine Martens?

A "lifer" for me, a Horned Lark. Fortunately there was someone there who knew what it was. I wouldn't have.

I stopped at the Whitney Dam because a rare to the area duck ( A Widgeon) was reported there a few days ago, all I got was this heron. With wild critters you take what you get.

Yeah, well, if my experience is any guide, Ricoh has no customer support at all. The people at Precision are very nice folks but have to call Ricoh for permission to do anything for a customer.

Stunning images Norm.

I concur with the comment - I visited a local park (Northland NZ) and the following birds were abundantly in attendance. (I ignored the seagulls and the ducks) Oh well. :
Chaffinch & Silver Eye

And sparrows

Iím not a big fan of any particular brand anymore. Iím just think some of these brand fans are irrational but that is what being a fan is about I suppose.
Iíll take your word for that and it is to bad. There was a time when (if memory serves me correctly), Pentax had the best product support rated by JD Power.

You guys do understand that this is an image thread, where we post our images and discus how we got them don't you? I'm pretty sure customer support is not covered under "discus your long lenses." This thread didn't get to 47,000 likes and the second most popular thread on the forum discussing customer support. Start your own threads, elsewhere. This one is successful because it doesn't get into that crap. As a rule, we accept images from other brands, discourage archived images, and try and make this a place for people shooting and posting images in the present. You need to read the rules on the way in the door, even if they aren't posted anywhere.

This is not the "rest on your laurels, look at the great shots I took in the past" thread, nor is it the " let's discus my brand preferences and opinions" thread. This is the "what images have you taken lately? show and tell" thread.

Some images were taken with 6D and Sigma 150-600mm Contemporary or with Canon 100-400mmL. I hope they look ok because I don't know how the program that I used to upload the images is affecting the quality.

Some images taken with 5D Mark IV and 300mm f2.8L + 2x TC or with Tamron 150-600mm (some of them are at high ISO).
