Little Eagle and Australian Magpie.
This shot is in the latter part of an altercation that lasted only a couple of seconds.
I can't be absolutely sure about how it started as I only picked it up in my peripheral vision, but it seemed like the Little Eagle had been perched in a tree about 3m above ground and the Magpie swooped in and attacked, and the two tumbled to the ground.
I immediately swung around and got them in the viewfinder and managed to get 3 shots off before both had exited the scene.
Not an excellent example photographically, but an interesting record of the event...and another good example of how good Pentax's auto focus really is.

K-3 ii, DFA 150-450, handheld. See exif for shot details, where you will see the camera was set at -1.7EV, the result of previously attempting to shoot black birds.

Cheers,
Terry

My wife and I asked ourselves the same question, so we opened his Flickr stream and found another shot in his "Birds in Action" labeled "Coppersmith Barbet"
Yes it's CopperSmith Barbet.

Bigma (the first model)

The meadowlark I took hand held (hence the high ISO, but also cropped), but the bison I was able to prop my arm a bit on passenger seat

The 150-450 really seems to be coming into it's own as more users get them. An interesting trend.

Once you've gone to 2.8, it's hard to go back. I'll have to be a lot more decrepit than I am right now.

---------- Post added 05-27-19 at 09:02 PM ----------

Usually I go out and photograph birds and a few squirrels while waiting for birds to turn up. Today I devoted some time to the squirrels. Altogether there's about 7 out there including at least a couple of very young ones.

K-3 and DA 55-300 PLM, hand held.

He sees me coming and is trying to escape the "squirrel proof" feeder.

It's a tough go apparently.

Checking out the action from a nearby tree.

And from another nearby tree.

I don't know why you even go in there dude, the sunflower seeds are just as good over here.

That dude is crazy.
