Lens is light so it gets used more often. I have made several videos using this lens, it is possible to hand hold it for 10 minutes or more.

Lens is sharp. In order to see the real sharpness, I have set the sharpness for default jpeg to zero. This made the sharpness of jpeg embedded in RAW as zero. Many image viewers show the embedded jpeg, and that makes it difficult to judge the sharpness. That is why I set the default jpeg's sharpness to zero. Images posted above were clearly sharp at 100%. When doing BIF number of images where beak is clearly sharp are low. This depends on body. I have not tested this lens with D500.

You must be excited to get 500PF lens. Waiting list goes for 6months.
The trick is calling smaller camera stores. I found myself one by printing off the authorized dealer list and calling stores. Took me less than an hour and I was able to find a fellow forum member a copy as well.

I’m very pleased so far and will post images soon.

His profile says Canon 7D. But the photo EXIF says Nikon D7100. IIRC he switched a while back. He shoots MFT too...

Nikon 7100. I sold the Nikon outfit when Pentax introduced the 150~450mm and I started using it. But, I found the AF unreliable and the lens more awkward to use than the Tammy, so eventually I purchased the newer version of the Tammy together with a Canon body which has really outstanding AF, and the Pentax 150~450mm went to another Pentaxian. More recently I've turned to MFT because of size/weight. I love the IQ of the K1 and the Canon + Tammy is a great combo, but too much for me to carry when a Panasonic G9 + 100~400mm Elmar is maybe 1/3 the weight and much smaller.

From the zoo at La Palmyre, France, shot with K-1 and Sigma 170-500. This lens is difficult to use, but it gives good enough results in the right conditions.
