Over the last week or so I've been perusing this thread to try and get to the end. Have to say there's a lot of good work in here. I need to get better with using the like buttons.

While grabbing some hummingbird shots late last month, a road runner hopped into the tree chasing something. Never seen that before. Grabbed a few shots as it was jumping around. Not that great, lots of foliage in the way.

K-1, DA*300 + 1.4TC, all 3 are cropped a bit.

Always tough shooting into foliage. Well done - great detail in the first shot and a nice cryptic quality in the other two.

Another lifer in 2019! Captured this pair of Blue Rock-Thrush in the sky-bridge of 50-storey residential building (The Pinnacle@Duxton - Wikipedia), heard the first sighting was back in 2017!

After attending the Birdlife Photography conference in Fremantle on the weekend I was inspired to pull out my 510mm F5.6 combo and try it with the K-1 mark2. No birds yet but this test shot is hand held and reasonably sharp. Now to go birding!

Lens is Adaptal 60B 300mm F2.8 with SMC 1.7AF TC.

I think I'm in love.
Went out to the backyard last night and shot M31 (the Andromeda Galaxy) with the SMC A* 400mm f/2.8 and was very pleased with the individual shots. Light pollution is probably my biggest issue now even with the Hoya red intensifier but I am getting dust lanes from my back yard which is a bright bortle 8 area with a 9 about a mile away. The only optical issue I am seeing with the lens is that it does have some coma but it isn't bad and I was shooting at f/2.8. I plan on shooting another set Wednesday night when it is clear and dry again but will see how it performs at f/4 to see if the cleans up the coma. I will post the results once processed.

I think the Sigma 300mm f/4 APO macro is getting retired from astro shooting. Good thing it is still useful for lots of other things.

For clarity, I notice that a few posts above are Nikon cameras and lenses. No issues with that? Cheers to all.

No problem to us here. May of the Nikon users were Pentax and remained with us.

I'll admit that for a time it did irk me that non-Pentax shots were being posted at a Pentax forum, then I thought about how nice it was that people wanted to stay connected with us even though they switched brands, and now I look forward to all the photos, regardless of brand.

As well as my D500 I still have my K-1 and many many (far more than Nikon) lenses. my use is probably 90/10 in favour of the K-1 but unfortunately there is no reasonably priced 600mm solution in Pentax mount so on those occasions the Nikon comes out.

If I remember correctly somewhere near the start of the thread it was decided all makes of camera were allowed and I'm always interested to see photos no matter where they come from.

Here are a couple of recent shot from the K-1 and 150-450mm just to balance it up a bit
