I can probably fulfill that need but I do like critter shots, especially since I can't ever seem to get them to cooperate.
Yes, this is great birding (bears, ...) thread, but if you get some clear skies I'm sure everybody would be happy to see your astro images here (much more interesting than my campfire photo).

If the forecast holds I can head out some Friday night to the darkest area in the Twin cites (Minneapolis/St. Paul) metro area and shoot till about 1AM Saturday morning in the park. I finally got my after hours permit so I don't have to get kicked out at 10PM anymore.

I feel this Club needs some non-animal images from time to time (I posted this one before in the Takumar Club).
Any one else think that the top portion of the flame looks like a monk in robes blessing/waving?

Could be, but without your suggestion I would never saw it!

Thanks, this is another shot of the dragonfly, I posted it in the K-1 section but I think it is the better of the two. BTW very jealous of your hummingbird shots, we get nothing like those in the UK and I would love the chance to have a go at photographing them.

Thanks! I feel the same with the dragonflys - see them around, but have never been quick enough to get a shot anywhere as sharp and clear as what you are showing.

Now that you mentioned it, I do.

Unfortunately now I'm thinking about the Tibetan monks who self-immolated.

They are wily creatures for sure! I followed one multiple times at a relatives house over the course of several months and their attempts to evade me put all their skills on display. Much more capable then their usually ostrich like behavior would lead you to believe.

Definitely interesting birds. I need to try more at catching them in photos.

Something I noticed this last week, there are some small lizards in the tree, colored same tone as the bark. I wouldn't doubt if it was chasing one of those.

It looks to me like an immature male, just coming into its adult plumage. It doesn't happen all at once. It's bill has already turned bright orange, from the more dusky color it had during most of its first year.
