My much loved 300 F4.5 F* at f5.6 captured the cast-offs of progress along the Norfolk Southern tracks near New Florence, PA. The rail and spike pictured had been installed just a year or so earlier, however a new Federal mandated technology, Positive Train Control (PTC) lead to reconfigurations of the tracks. Rails with a section of electromagnetic sensors replaced the section shown.

Footnote. The discarded track sits directly on/in the remains of the Western Division, Pennsylvania Mail Line Canal. The canal operated from the late 1820’s until 1856 (some areas survived into the late 1860’s). The newly chartered Pennsylvania Railroad acquired much of the Canal between Pittsburgh and Johnstown, building it’s railroad beside, and in many cases, on top of the Canal.

Excellent series. Really like the first sand dunes image, Exactly the right lighting and a sand pattern than is sometimes slightly disorienting. Has that 'roo has been watching Dumbo?

I will give your more credit than you give yourself. This is a great photo. You could only improve this by catching the mythical man on the moon.
Thanks!

That 'roo shot looks like he's up in the air, the salt lake looks like gray sky to me. Cool photo.

Outstanding series Noel. Must add Mungo NP to the bucket list.

A very surprising birdbath user - Buff-banded Rail. KP + DA 55-300 PLM at 300mm

Agreed, but a necessary critter.

Activity at the feeder was really slow today.

And cloud cover blocking the moon.

Tomorrow is another day.

White fronted bee-eater

This one was taken with the KP and DA*300 F4. I now have the 1.4 AW TC and hope to get even closer, but cropping is quite useful with this combination as well, without TC
