Twenty-four hours after hatching, the baby Wood Ducks jump out of the nest. Their mother was waiting for them on the ground, about 5-6 meters down. They all got out in a short moment.

The mother was waiting for them on the ground, not far from the tree, until all of them grouped around her. I took this photo just after she started entering the woodland, guiding the ducklings by making calls.
I counted 14 of them, and you?
Wood Ducks are known to have between 12-15 ducklings in average.

Too many great shots to list. Beautiful birds all, and the hatchlings are delightful.

Even the birds looked a little sleepy.
Great series.

Today I took out the Tamron Adaptall-2 300/2.8 (360B) coupled with the Pentax A 2x-S TC, stuff I don't use very often.

The blackbird is a heavy crop; I cut away about 85% of the frame.

My most used lens by far, the SMC-F* 300/4.5 played "PeepingTom" as these two eastern cottontail rabbits ALMOST did the nasty. A second later she bolted away with her suitor giving chase.
