Taks, the eagle fishing blew me away. That is great.

A series of brilliant captures, as always. You certainly get the best out of your long lens combo's!
Best.

Nice capture! Did you use a tc with your 300mm?
Best.

Yes that is with DA300 f4 and Pentax 1.4 WR TC. I do think it works better than the 300mm and cropping.

I guess I should be posting here also, but for now I’ll just put the link.

I recently acquired a DA560, and am going through the learning process.

The photos are labeled based on the number of days since getting the lens

Some have been cross posted in the post your photos forum also

So far I haven't found the right placement of strobes to get all the iridescent feathers on the throat flashing their distinctive ruby-red.

Great shot, Presto! Love the feather texture on hummers.

There are so many remarkable bird photos on this thread. So, I try not to remark, or I would be remarking all the time. This one is so remarkable, I cannot help but tell you how very good it is.

Thanks to cooks333 and mroeder75 for their compliments. Photographing hummers is a matter of getting a set-up and trying again, and again, and again. They are so fast, move so unpredictably, AF is hopeless, getting them framed properly is almost an accident. How to manage? Use MF to prefocus in the area where they hover briefly when they pull back from a feeder, use manual strobe at the lowest possible power output (=shortest flash time) to eliminate blur as much as possible and do the photography either early AM or late PM when there's minimal sunlight to compete with the strobe. Set up an artificial background if you don't want the bird against black (I have many of the latter for a feeder position where it's very difficult to use one of my painted backgrounds). Use a FL wider than needed = don't even think about filling the frame, plan to crop in PP. I'm planning to work more with the hummers, hoping to get a fully illuminated throat on a male.

Learning the DA 560

Here are a couple of shots from my new DA560, I am still learning with it

As mentioned in an earlier post, I have started an album of my learning experiences. I cross post to the post your photos, many of them.

I have also done a review. The interesting thing to me is although I spent a bit of time setting it up for tripod mount, I have yet to use it on a tripod.
