Lovely bif shots! Seeing those powerlines in the first shot gave me a start. Locally we annually lose quite a number of the larger birds, like cranes and vultures, by them flying into the lines.

A lot of power lines and fences in rural areas in the UK have reflectors threaded onto the lines (a bit like small CDs) which are supposed to help birds see them.

Thanks. A bit off subject but Eskom, our national utility, also put "flappers" on known flying routes but there are still some losses on other lines.

Two images of a kestrel sitting at some architecturally important railing thingie at the building where they used to control the bridges in the Eemskanaal. This girl (I think) is very relaxed and I can often drive or cycle right past her when she's sitting on one of the posts along our driveway.
