Because I really wanted to try out the SMC A 2X-L converter I got.
So I guess you're pretty happy with it.

Yes. It is a good thing that I have some heavy tripods. It isn't as sharp as the 1.4X-L but it does a pretty good job. I got it for the extra reach when going after deep sky objects as it is a cheap way to get to 800 and still have pretty good quality. Since it only attaches to the high end lenses it should do well for astro. I want to give it a try on the moon tonight to see how it does with that.

Beautiful shot. Hand held?
Thanks swip!
no that one was shot using a tripod... I have harder times to get sharp shots with the k-3ii than with the K-1...
with the K-3ii, it gets to theorical 750mm, and I guess that's why it's more challenging.

also photo was cropped a bit (1:3) fyi

Beaver on the move. SCAN, so no EXIF data to identify the lens, but as I recall I was using a 400mm f4 Tamron when trying to photograph the beavers. Cropped to less than 1/3 of the original image.

Great Hornbill shot with K5 + Sigma 500/4.5

Long Tailed Shrike shot together with Pentaxian (thanks to him for the bird's location which was very near his house), we were both newbie at that time.

Some birds from a few days ago ...

This one was not easy - I had to focus manually and couldn't see the jay well

Looked like there was a pidgeon nest in the hedge - but I don't really know

Well, she liked the bath I guess

And this mistle thrush simply only looked around

And this guy - I guess you know what he was doing ... he hammered until the tree fell - sorry, a little joke

This walk was really fun - never made so many bird images on a short walk!

All done using KP and DA55-300PLM at 300mm. Some images additionally cropped.

Passport refused. They don't accept profile shots. ;-) Thanks Luis.

Thanks Peter. Old story: proximity and a good lens.
