I agree, and no one will give me a mortgage; I'll be 81 in June. I'm too slow to get away after robbing the bank. I have to go cry into my pillow now ...
You two crack me up.

Wow ! NIce ! That Sigma 800mm must be pretty rare! First time I see it in P-K mount...

which mount do you prefer? and what's the head on the Eckla window mount ?
doesn't look like a RRS...
The ballhead on the Eckla mount is an old Kood ballhead. I think I prefer the Kirk mount as it's a lot more rigid.

The Sigma is definitely very capable and it is wide open too.

I went on a little walkabout today in a park down the road, ended up with a few shots of mostly small birds with the KP, DA*300 and DA 1.4 converter. All cropped. Without the converter I may not have even tried some of these. They are not that detailed, but without the converter I definitely would not have got the details that I did because of the distance.

Edit: This morning I realized that I did not have the converter on my lens, so these photos were taken without it. We recently took a trip to Ohio and Tennessee and I took the other camera and put the converter on the 55-300PLM. We brought my mother in law back with us, and my wife's brother and his wife came a few days later and took the mother in law home when they left. In the meantime the camera gear was stowed in a different spot and I forgot I had done that. Those photos turned out OK, but I kick myself because they could have been closer. Live and learn.

95% sure this is an immature pine warbler

Nice set, Tom! As far as cropping is concerned, I just keep reminding myself that my first Pentax was a 6.1 MP K100D so anything above that is bonafide legit.

Back up the Flinders Ranges for a few weeks..... was checking out a grave at the Nuccaleena Mine ruins with a friend..... (12 or so graves but only one head stone).... knowing that Red Capped Robyns frequent the area.... I said to him that the head stone needs a Robyn on it to look special..... he laughed.... so I did my secret Robyn call..... Robyn landed for about 1/2 second.... I'd pre focussed on the headstone... friend missed it...
