K-50 and A 400/5.6
That's a great capture and excllent framing! Well done with a manual focus lens (I guess that may even be an advantage in this situation)

Just got a DFA 150-450. What a beast of a lens. The optical quality is great. Here is one of my first photos with it. A wild turkey in my backyard. RAW file processed in DXO Photolab. Some croping and touch up in Photoshop Elements 2109.
Was there a sitters fee?
Nice image of what I would call an unattractive bird.

DFA 150-450 on KP

Then... a demonstration of Airborne transmission.........

Followed by a demonstration of improvising when you don't have elbows.

All three are great shots, Noel, but it is impossible not to like the first and third shots just a little more - too cute!!

Appreciate the kind comments, thanks!
I really enjoy this lens (and the 560) and am anxious to pair them with the K3iii
Since partially going to the dark side (Nikon D500 and light weight 500 PF) I have to admit I'm preferentially grabbing that set up which has hurt my ability to participate in this favorite thread.
The K1 was frustrating the heck out of me trying to move the focal point with the 4 way controller and having to half press the shutter button to awaken the camera rather than coming to life when I hit the back button focus. I missed shots. The K3iii joystick will be a real plus. Will have to see if the camera awakens with hitting the back button focus (my apologies if there's a current setting I'm not aware of).

Here's a northern cardinal from the same outing. K1 DFA 150-450 at 330 mm

Did that one 3 weeks ago. I didn't like the softness of he bird, si I tried and buy Topaz Sharpen AI, which seems to help better than Lr 6.12

Carouge à épaulettes / Red-winged Blackbird [Agelaius phoeniceus]
I don't use Topaz Sharpen but use Topaz Denoise. I found the sharpen tool in the app worked very well too.

Please do post examples from the K3III with the DA560 once you are shooting the K3III. I also went to the "dark side" with the Nikon D500+500PF (via an expensive detour of the Canon 7DII+400DOII), but have missed the reach and fine detail of the K3+DA560 combo ever since (I regrettably sold both). I could not wait any longer back then, disliking the buggy nature of the K3 too much to stay put.

I could write pages on the differences between both combo's, but looking back, the K3+DA560+1.4TC at 784 mm handheld at 1/200sec gave me some amazing performance in early morning shooting, that I have not gotten close to with Canon or Nikon, although I have not shot the +10.000 super guns yet.
I am now at the stage where I want to increase the reach again, as the 1.4TC on the 500PF is not to my liking. I am still undecided between getting a Nikon 500mm f4E FL or return to the Pentax DA560 (if it is still available for order!!) with the K3III.

From what I have seen of the current Canon 400/2.8 for astro shooting I am really glad that I am a Pentax shooter. I am not impressed with what I have seen from the hardcore Canon shooters that use it with their new Canon mirrorless cameras that they state are the best for astro. They have noticeable coma and clear field curvature which my A* 400/2.8 lacks. It may be because those individuals just don't know how to run that lens but I've seen results from 2 people one who is overly boisterous about his astro abilities and both have the same problems. I haven't seen any astro results using the similar Nikon lens for astro so I can't speak to how it performs. Those huge slabs of glass are spendy and really are specialty items so finding any samples is kind of hard.

They are twitchy little guys. I've been trying to get a good shot of some similar ones out of my basement office window for a while now. It is dark under the bushes, a 300mm is a long lens, and ISO 3200 is pretty noisy. Nice shot I know how hard is is to get a good one of these little guys.

Very nice image. That bird is an unusual red/crimson colour.

Another New Holland Honeyeater - such a striking bird Your pic is pin-sharp and has captured its quirky nature.
