Great detail Norm.
The second one has a mouth full!
When I was a kid I think I would have had to spit some of that out.
Thanks, I put out about a cup of peanuts and other mixed nuts, dried fruits and seeds every day along with the black oil sunflower seeds and mixed grains for the ground feeders. As soon as I do the Jays and squirrels turn up and start hoarding as much of the good stuff as they can. The Nuthatches and chickadees do the same with the hanging feeders. The Jays are screeching, the squirrels are chattering, it's quite the scene. After 5 minutes all the easy pickings are gone.

Very good pictures! That Tamron is sharp.
It's shame everyone can't have one. The 420 ƒ/4 is a distinct advantage over ƒ/5.6 or ƒ/6.3 glass, often the difference between something and nothing. But with only 100 made.....

Great detailed shots Norm - I call dibs if you ever decide to sell the 300/2.8

Thanks bertwert... but, the problem with selling this lens would be, I'd be unlikely to get another one. Maybe I'll put you in my will. The last owner of this lens died, so, that would be two dead owners.... just saying.

That lens is cursed, better get rid of it sooner rather than later

Haha a bit morbid that - on another note, a fellow forum member just bought the A 400 I got from you, hope they get good use out of it and it enjoys its journey to the new photographer. Maybe we'll see some shots from them on here in time.

Ya gotta hang in there, Norm... eventually Pentax is going to release a 2x TC, and think how well that would pair with your 300/2.8!

Speaking of 300/2.8...

Nice shots ! Just too bad about the powerline in the last one. We often realize after the fact that there is something disruptive in the background!

I didn't know it was so rare. Good thing you're enjoying it.

Beautiful photo, colors and subjects. What lens did you use?

Thanks. The lens is the Tamron Adaptall-2 SP 300mm f/2.8 LD IF - 360B, which is very similar to what @normhead is shooting, sans AF.

It's good enough that you can get respectable sharpness even with the 2x teleconverter attached:
