Hehe....there is probably a Nobel Prize in it for me if I can sharpen water....

But yes, sharpening is spreading in the community. Photoshop's auto button adds 40% as a default, Windows Photos' magic wand sharpens, the rear LCD even sharpens the instant review to draw you in.....

Now what would happen if I were to be tempted by Enhance Details or the new Super Resolution function in Photoshop?

It's the latest craze around my house. I got a copy of Topaz AI before Christmas, and have been going back rescuing photos. It make me wonder about some of the ones I deleted, if they would have been OK.... you really do have to pay attention to the whole image and dial it back from the default every now and then,

I occasionally find some wonderfully bizarre effects using Topaz Sharpen AI. A high-ISO indoors photo that I took of a statue with my K-5 looked like it had a bad case of acne, but turned out much better using Topaz Denoise AI. We could start a whole thread with Sharpening Fails.

Just looking back at RIAT 2019 airshow, I have always complained about the autofocus on Pentax cameras but when it works I honestly don't think there is a system out there that can beat the IQ of a K-1 and 150-450mm

I wonder how many images I've tossed the I could have saved had this software been available 10 years ago.

One of my latest rescues.....
This

To this

This one I didn't pay any attention to because the beak was a bit soft.

Going through images for my "best of the year" I revisited it, that sharpness and noise reduction from Topaz made it a worthwhile project.

The thing for me and many others is, we won't spend time processing an image, if it doesn't meet basic sharpness criteria. Topaz gives some images a second chance. "Some" because, in some, to get the subject to look like you want, you have to incur artifacts in other parts of the image. I just won't take the time to do the layer masking in photoshop needed to avoid that, I don't get paid for this.
