Great capture. Such moments come and go in the blink of an eye. You need to be alert, you need quick reflexes, you need a bit of luck. BTW: This is an object lesson in evolutionary strategy. The juvenile is entirely preoccupied with itself, with it's own success. The parent from its point of view, is just a means to those ends so the juvenile bird should push to keep the parent providing food as long as it possibly can.

I had seen the same pair with the juvenile being fed earlier but wasn't able to get a good shot so I was watching any time they returned. This morning there were as many as 6 house finches flying around the feeder and taking turns.

Painted bunting, another bird invented by a kid with a new box of 64 Crayolas. Beautiful image of the bird. You're luck to have those locally

From this week end at Oiso Beach.

In summer, Green pigeons come from the mountains to the Rocky Shore to drink seawater.

When they drink seawater from tide pools,

they are often hit by waves.

The males are kinda territorial so you almost never see 2 males except for a brief moment when one is being chased off….

Many bird species, like humans, care when another crosses a fence, or a line only visible on a map.
