Was it mounted on K-5 or D800?
D800 - my de facto birding camera now.

Not great shots but this is a Northern Long Eared Owl (ca. 40cms high and WS up to 1m). I was delighted to find her but once she settled I just couldn't get an angle for a shot without twigs in the way. Look at her camouflage - superb ! I wouldn't have found her without the aid of the Bul Buls, who were making their annoyance at her presence heard, and those long 'tufts' ! The second shot was also with the 500mm so imagine what the scene looked like to the naked eye. With the 'bins' on her she was amazing - those huge orange globes watching me studying her.

Even through all those branches/leaves you nailed focus - what a great capture!

I studied the second shot for a while - is the owl even in that shot somewhere? Amazing that you got any kind of shot at all.

Thank you, Derek. I'm glad you like the Tamron. I just bought the K-01 on the impulse ($317 B&H Black Friday deals) to try focus peaking with MF Lester A. Dine 105/2.8 macro, Tamron 180/2.5, and especially with Lensbaby Edge 80/2.8. I may miss the 400/4 .
Any picture with the Tamron?

What a great shot, despite the branches in the way. I needed a magnifying glass and 5 minutes to even find her in the full frame shot. Great work!

There are quite a few here. I like this one. Manual capture bird in flight. I was quite proud of myself, figuring that I mastered it, but have found since that it was a fluke.

Quite an osprey! I even won't try it in MF mode . There is some PF though. Have you tried removing it through PP?

There is mine with a small fish

Wow! Great shots Frogfish, Greyser and derekkite. It's hard to find that owl even knowing it is in there. They are so well camouflaged. No wonder we hardly ever see them!

I have many Great Horned owls in my local park. However, I've never seen them in daylight.

Thank you. How your 500/4.5 deal is going on, BTW?
